Essencha: A Loose-Leaf Paradise

What's the deal?

Essencha Tea House has so many different types of tea they need a menu to get you through your options.  In all, over 80 different teas are available for either a cup at the store or loose-leaf varities to take home and brew.  They also carry 2 different varities of matcha, a powdered Japanese green tea that boasts uber health benefits.  Need help deciding?  Essencha's staff will hook you up with a tea you are sure to like.

Where to get it?

3212a Madison Rd. in Oakley.

How much will it cost?

It all depends on how particular you are about your tea.  While common loose-leaf varietals go for around $6 for a 4oz container, the same container of super high quality teas such as the Gyokuro Gold can be as much as $35.  Matcha?  Again, depends on the quality.  The everyday Matcha Jade Bliss runs $15 for 4oz, while 4oz of the ceremonial grade Matcha Sawa will set you back $49.

Great place indeed. It's what Cincinnati needed for a long time. Finally a place where you can get quality teas (both to drink and buy to infuse at home). Here's their site http://www.essencha.com
Checkout their events section too if interested in tea. They run various events about 2/month. "Introduction to tea" for ex is a good class to start.
Enjoy and keep sipping!
Remember,
Real Men Drink Tea!

My girlfriend and I just had a cup of the Yunnan Goldtips we brought home last week. Really, really, really good.

Indeed. Their Palace (same province in China) is good too and cheaper I mighgt add. But Goldtips Supreme is definitely higher quality.
If you like black teas, you might want to try some of their teas from the Indian Subcontinent. One of the best teas that comes to might is their Darjeeling Muscatel 2nd Flush. A premium tea, but I must say it's like the Champagne of wines! Truly a delight.
Enjoy and remember,
If you say Real Men Drink Tea is a myth, I say it's not :-)

I've gotten some tea from these folks & had a great experience there. They were *very* helpful when I was trying to make a selection that my wife would like. As soon as we're out we'll be back for more!
