Local husband/wife musical duo, Ellery, is providing fans with a thrifty option for enjoying their music during the holiday season. Ellery consists of Justin and Tasha Golden, Cincinnati transplants since the early 2000s when they began attending Cincinnati Christian University (then known as Cincinnati Bible College) in Price Hill. Signing to Seattle label Virt Records in 2005 has helped them to continually gain national recognition, which includes a PBS television special. Don't think its gone to the couple's collective head, though. Just yesterday, Ellery performed for free at Joseph Beth Booksellers in the Rookwood Pavilion as a thank you for strong local support.

For a clue about what to expect when first listening to Ellery, look no further than another local husband/wife duo that has enjoyed wide success on a national level: Over the Rhine. Ellery stylistically overlaps Over the Rhine in more ways than one, but they have established a sound they can safely call their own. Guitar and piano are thoughtfully displayed and accompany the couple's purposeful harmonies to create some truly beautiful songs. Once you become familiar with their music, it becomes a comfortable place to return to. That's why fans of Ellery and the holiday season in general will be doubly pleased to find a free 3 song EP, courtesy of Justin and Tasha, available for download.
