A few weeks back we asked Bill Donabedian, Managing Director of Fountain Square, and Co-founder of the Midpoint Music Festival, to tell us about one of his favorite local spots and here is what he said:

Finding cool clothes for men is still a little difficult in Cincinnati.
I usually shop online or have to make a pilgrimage to Chicago once or
twice a year to find something other than khaki pants and white button
down shirts. However, if you look close enough, you'll find a small
store in downtown Cincinnati that is different.

Head to the corner of Fourth and Walnut and you'll see Bolero right next
to Fresh. Jim Elkus is the owner and you'll find him there almost every
day. The only time you won't see him is when he's in New York buying for
the season.

One thing I like about Bolero is Jim knows who I am and what I like.
There is a personal level of service that I don't get when I shop
somewhere else. I also like the fact that the selection is very unique
and I probably won't bump into hundreds of people wearing the same shirt
as me.

Jim carries items from Calvin Klein and Boss, but I'm more interested in
pieces from Ted Baker, Ben Sherman, Robert Graham and English Laundry -
clothes that are rooted in classic design, but have an edge to them.
There are also obscure labels using newer materials for luxurious looks
at a reasonable price.

So if you can't stand to wear that blue polo shirt another day, head to
Bolero for interesting clothes and friendly service. And say "hi" to Jim
for me.
