Enjoy Your Weekend (W/E March 30th)
Me Machine Breakdown; a two person show of paintings by one artist. This exhibition presents two bodies of work by Cincinnati native Bruce Riley.
Mr. Riley refers to one of the bodies of work as "pattern paintings" and the other group as "organic abstractions." The first group of "Pattern Paintings" was exhibited in Chicago with the show title of "Ray's Mundo" in the fall of last year. The pseudonym Raymond Eddy was used for the exhibition.
"The organic abstractions in this exhibition are Me. Although the visual content of my painting radically changes through the years, these images are of the same time binding process that has built a sense of self. I liken this process to an expanding bubble in the midst of everything all at once that will eventually burst and be erased like the memory in a computer. It's this vision that gives a hint of the vastness of the human organism and the limited yet over-inflated self importance of The I. After all it's Me that is responsible for all human induced suffering, isn't it?"
