Linden Noll Gift Haus: Old World Toys and Crafts

A quick perusal of Linden Noll seems almost obligatory with any trip to MainStrasse. Hidden between Wertheim's and this neighborhood's many specialty shops is one of the best collections of old world crafts and gifts in the area. Owner and operator, Dolores Carpenter, said "I always thought there should be a shop with this here." We're sure you'll agree if you stop by this shop for a one of a kind gift or book.
I was lucky enough to receive quite an education from Delores during
our interview. Fluent in all things German, Delores flies to shows in
New York and Germany to keep her stock distinctive and extensive. "Our
stock is not necessarily German, Polish, or Russian, but I do try to
emphasize our collection of old fashioned toys." Delores said before
adding, "Not your toys, your grandmother's toys." Delores also stocks many unique children's books, including some written in
rudimentary German to help children learn the language.
Linden Noll has been open for business for 25 years with Delores behind the counter. They were one of the first businesses to open after MainStrasse received its extensive renovations. "I definitely feel very connected to the MainStrasse neighborhood. We have a lot of regulars from this area, and others from out of state who stop by when they're passing through for a Reds game or on their way to vacation in Florida."

It's impossible to sum up everything in this shop. As Delores said, "It's all I can handle. I pretty much have a full plate here." Inside you'll find items like NutCrackers, hand-made Ornaments (their holiday section is always open), German Smoking Men, Cuckoo Clocks, Polish Miniatures, Post Cards, Advent Pyramids, Books, and a very extensive children's section. The next time you're looking for unique gift or craft, we hope you'll consider this Cincinnati treasure trove.
