The next time you're on your way to the stripmall for (insert adjective here)-cuts, consider, on your half-hour drive there, getting your hair or nails done downtown in an independent and eco-friendly salon. Deviate Salon and Spa is downtown's newest salon, offering hair, nail, and skin care.
You may have seen Deviate (also known as Dv8) in the fountain square Earth Day fashion show. Deviate strives to maintain responsible, eco-friendly business practices. All of Deviate's products are made by Aveda, a company specializing in botanically based, eco-friendly hygienic products. Missy Campbell, owner of the salon, informed us that the salon is also moving to deal primarily with local businesses for all of its other needs. You may recall from Sean's Earth Day article how practices like this contribute to sustainability.
Deviate offers haircuts and styling, nail services, waxing, skin care, and massage. Missy informed us that Yoga and wellness classes will soon be offered, as well. The choice to move downtown wasn't a difficult one for Deviate. The salon's main goal is to provide a small-town friendly atmosphere in the middle of downtown. "We called it Deviate, because it's not your typical salon," Missy explained to us.
Deviate offers services to all ages, male and female. Walk-ins are welcome, but calling ahead guarantees you the time you want. While the salon operated beforehand, their official grand opening occurred recently.
