The Rohs name is all over Cincinnati, but there are two things you might not know. First, it's pronounced "Russ," not "Rose." Second, and more importantly, you can still buy from the Cincinnati family's hardware store on Vine.

Al Rohs is the owner and operator of Rohs True Value Hardware. His family has had a long line of Cincinnati institutions attached to its name. As those preceding it did, Al's business provides for the needs of its neighborhood. Whether this means stocking fishing and tackle gear or providing technical advice, Rohs Hardware has it. "The only thing we don't have is a yard and garden section," Al pointed out. "We do have a bit of seed etc, but people here don't necessarily need it."
Rohs stocks hardware, plumbing and electrical supplies, fasteners, paint, and appliances. Rohs also provides custom glass and plexiglass work, like cutting and tinting. Above all, Rohs meets the needs of its neighborhood. "A lot of people have been with us through thick and thin here."
Rohs is independently controlled, but belongs to a non-profit union of stores called True Value. This enables the store to compete with chains through cooperative buying and advertisement.
The best part about Rohs True Value, though, would have to be its employees. Rohs has a small staff of locals who are knowledgeable and always happy to help. Even in the midst of an interview, Al stopped to give advice over the phone to one of his customers. This kind of amiable service is simply unique to this type of store, and we hope you'll consider heading into OTR the next time you're on your way out of the city for hardware.

This is the best hardware store in town. He will glazed windows, mix paint, and is very knowlegable about how to fix anything.
my last name is Rohs but my family pronounces it "rose" and hat when people slaughter it and say "russ"
