BarrelHouse Brewery: Back and Better

BarrelHouse1.jpgIt's been quite a suspenseful year for BarrelHouse Brewery fans. We reported last April that Rick Debar, long-time Brewmaster, was officially moving on to another brewery; and not long after that, the bottling line shut down. With the return of Mike Osborne, and the addition of Mike Anderson, we at BuyCincy think you're going to see a lot more of BarrelHouse in the coming months.

After finding our article about the bottling line, Mike Anderson contacted us and invited us in to tour the once again fully-operational brewery. Mike heads up the brewery's sales and press, and has already expanded distribution to new corners of the tri-state area. In this regard, BarrelHouse has come a long way from the unassuming OTR brewpub it started in 1993 as.

Mike Osborne Brewing Cumberland Pale Ale

BarrelHouse2.jpgMike Osborne (Brewmaster as of June) remembers the original BarrelHouse Brewpub quite well. "We moved from 12th street in '05. It was sad to see it [the pub] go, but we have more space and capacity here than we ever had before." Mike served Rick Debar as his assistant brewer throughout this period. "We're going to stick to Rick's recipes, but I definitely have some fun ideas coming," Mike teased us.

We think that the combination of these two is one of the most exciting developments in Cincy brewing yet. Mike Anderson has brought much-needed marketing and sales skill to the brewery, and Mike Osborne's connection to the brewery is more than apparent in each bottle of beer.

The Beers:
BarrelHouse Red Legg Ale
Cumberland Pale Ale
Hocking Hills Hefeweizen
Seasonal Beers (Currently Oktoberfest Lager)

Keep an eye out for this local business's product on shelves and in taps, and if you don't see it there, ask for it! In the meantime, count down the days (there aren't many left) until Mike brews the next seasonal beer, the Belgian Winter Ale.

BarrelHouse is often available at Party Source, and always available at Dilly Deli in Mariemont.

Web-site is UP and looking GOOD! The Bier Band enjoyed MANY Barrel House Oktoberfest Biers at Oktoberfest Zinzinnati AND at Mecklenburg Gardens.

We sure HOPE that we'll see some Wooden Shoe up in Minster, OH for the FABULOUS Minster Oktoberfest on Saturday, October 4th. Rumor has it that Barrel House/Cavalier Distr. will have about 90 cases for sale.... I'll take that!

PROST!
The Bier Band
