Midpoint Friday - Pearlene + Pomegranates

Met up with some friends from Lexington who were excited about seeing Pearlene live, so we headed over to the Lodge Bar at 11. Pearlene, of course, was filling everyone's ears with their bluesy rock, causing a few in the crowd to pick up the air guitar. Their sound was pretty impressive, very dense, and almost as if it was being propelled at you. We made it though their set - barely. With so many people moving around the Lodge Bar, some who didn't look like they were too thrilled with the venue's change of their regular top 40 remix tunes, it was impossible to   find even a bit of personal space.

The plan was to see the Buffalo Killers there at 12, but we decided we needed to get some fresh air, and some personal space. Unfortunately, when we headed to the Blue Wisp to catch the Pomegranates, so did a horde of our closest friends. At about 11:50, 8th St. was filled with groups of 5-6 people a piece walking East. After a short wait in line (which grew longer as it reached midnight), we squeezed our way into the Blue Wisp and listened to a very energetic, and very entertaining set by the Pomegranates. By 12:40, our legs were a bit tired (a painful sign we're not 18 anymore), so we went our separate ways, excited about doing the whole thing again Saturday night.

I like reading the coverage from you guys. It's raining where I am. Nothing going on.
