BaCalls Cafe

outside.jpgFounded in 1982, and Flanked on Hamilton Avenue by two other College Hill favorites (Angert's Appliances, and Schwartz Jewelers) BaCalls Cafe has been an institution in College Hill for nearly 26 years.

The Art Deco interior and beautiful bar are reminders of College Hill's history, and autographed notes from local celebs and football helmets from local high school teams on a shelf near the bar, show the current connection to the community.

"BaCalls is locally owned and operated by people who care," says Tim O'Keefe, owner of BaCalls since 2001.  "While most restaurants have great turnover of employees Bacalls has 4 employees with over 20 years seniority, 6 employees with 15 plus years and 6 more with 10 plus years at BaCalls Cafe.  BaCalls offers great friendly service that becomes personal service even on your first visit."

BaCalls is famous for their Onion Straws, Reubens and half pound burgers.  They also have great appetizers (the Nacho Boat is a favorite of the BuyCincy staff, as are the cheese nuggets and Spinach and Artichoke dip).  BaCalls offers a wide array of sandwiches, salads and entrees .  They also have daily specials, (including Seafood Pastas, Black and Blue Filet Mignon, and Homemade Chicken Pot Pie) homemade soups and a full bar.

I'm a College Hill resident and I heartily recommend Bacall's. The food is excellent. It has a neighborhood feel but the kitchen is far better than a typical neighborhood place. Bacall's is what Applebee's is pretending to be!!!

have long been a patron of Bacall's since my (now wife of 8 years, and former Bacalls employee) suggested it after our second date as a place to go for a drink. Favs are the Black n Bleu burger with onion straws and the Buffalo chicken salad. We have ALWAYS had great service here and the staff have been there forever do care a great deal.

Thanks for the comments. Bacalls is one of my favorite restaurants. I have been going their since I was a kid. I still love the cheese nuggets served with cocktail sauce, the gyros, the burgers, the cherry salad. I actually don't think I have ever had anything there I didn't like.
