This Friday marks the 75th anniversary of the repeal of the 18th amendment, and the end of Prohibition. It also brings us two exciting events at Grammer's in OTR, and Mecklenburg Gardens in Corryville.Take President Roosevelt's advice (upon signing the amendment's repeal in 1933): "Now would be a good time for a beer."
Grammer's will be hosting its "Free To Booze" event at 4 pm tomorrow. The event will feature special pricing on Moerlein products. Event-goers can purchase their first beer for five dollars and get their own Moerlein pint glass, which can be refilled throughout the night for three dollars. Grammer's will also be featuring several local dj's in the later evening.
Mecklenburg Gardens: Two Dollar Pints
Mecklenburg Gardens will be offering two-dollar pints throughout happy hour, along with half-priced appetizers. Keep an eye on the old ship above the bar, it used to tell patrons whether it was safe to drink during the Prohibition era!

Both places sound like they'll be a great time. I might try to make my way to one.
Good info, perhaps I can take a break from studying constitutional law to celebrate constitutional law (snare roll and cymbal crash.) No seriously folks, can someone explain how the brewers all had beer ready to consume at the end of the prohibition?
Mecklenburg and Grammers are two of my favorite places in town. A third, the Comet Bar in Northside, is also hosting a Repeal Day bash. Every 2 hours, starting Thursday and continuing through Saturday, they are tapping another keg of great beer to commemorate FDR's 2nd greatest accomplishment (take that, New Deal).
