It was little over a year ago that I happened upon this shop in a strip mall off Fields Ertel Road. My fiance Jason and I were going to Circuit City one night when the little storefront called me.
From the outside I thought the place looked cool. Turns out it was.
Body of Light, which healer Sara Gerhardt said offers "an alternative way to enhance well-being," is best described as more an experience than a shop, though there are plenty of trinkets to buy. There's everything from jewelry, essential oils, holy water, incense, worry stones, singing bowls, candles, crystals, crosses....you get the picture.
Spirtuality and well-being is at the core of the stores ambiance and the atmoshpere is quiet, bright, friendly and welcoming. In addition to the retail shop, Body of Light offers various classes and other services including tarot card and physic readings and belly dancing.
Owner Sherry Bills moved the shop to Symmes Township, near the Pizza Tower, nearly two years ago from the Landen area off Montgomery Road. She'll celebrate five years in business this May.
You can come to group classes, have a private session or just walk-in, Sara said. She specializes in tuning fork sound therapy, which is sort of like it sounds. The tuning fork creates deep vibrations in the body, which can relieve aches and pains, she said.
The shop also has a small bookstore and reading area, complete with free coffee, tea or hot chocolate.
"Sometimes people come in just to relax," Sara said. "We get customers who just want to be
here to enjoy the energy."
Body of Light is open Monday to Friday from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. and Saturday from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. It's located at 12141 Royal Point Dr. just off the Fields Ertel Road Exit off Interstate 71.
