Here at BuyCincy HQ, we've decided to bring back the weekly Events column, and here is the first, hastily assembled installment. This weekend is dominated by the annual Bockfest shenanigans, but there are plenty of other options around town as well. This weekend's Bockfest includes the annual parade, Bockfest Sausage Queen Competition, tours of old brewery buildings and the abandoned subway, and plenty of bar-hopping opportunities with live music and a free shuttle bus.


The Art of Food opening reception

The Art of Food explores the ways in which food is a complete sensory experience along with creative interpretations from artists who use food as the inspiration for the art.


The New Deal's Legacy in Cincinnati Architecture: 1933-1943
Greenhills Community Building, 8 Enfield St.

Historic preservation consultant Beth Sullebarger will highlight Cincinnati's New Deal architecture as part of the national celebration of the 75th anniversary of the New Deal, featuring such notable landmarks as Lunken Airport, Union Terminal, and the Village of Greenhills.


Family First Saturday: Community Day

A celebration for all ages with music, art making activities, and a chance to meet self-taught artists from the Visionaries & Voices studios, in conjunction with the Matisse/Picasso V&V exhibit, currently on view at the Cincinnati Art Museum.


44: Moxy with Evolve
Contemporary Arts Center, 44 East 6th St.

In the CAC lobby, hear Moxy interweave melodic rhythms and thoughtful verbiage, while the challenging and multifarious talents of Evolve share the stage.


Sonata Recital for Violin and Piano
Taft Museum of Art, 316 Pike St.
Sun 8 Mar, 2:30pm
FREE
Violinist Rebecca Culnan, accompanied by Daniel Culnan on piano, presents Mozart's Sonata in C Major K.403, Debussy's Sonata, and Prokofief's Sonata in D Major, as part of the Taft's Chamber Music Series.

I have to make a correction, though. The New Deal lecture in Greenhills isn't free. Admission is $7 for members of CPA and $12 for non-members.
