In addition to Michael Pollan, there is a big local foods event on Saturday and Sundsay in Covington called "Farmers' Fair". There's a kick-off party Saturday featuring chef and farmer paired small plates, with local wine, beer and music to enjoy (5-10 PM).
And on Sunday there's a one day Farmer's Market there with local farmers and producers, music, kids activities, and demos ranging from cooking, to Urban Gardening and composting (11AM - 4PM). It all happening outside at the intersection of Court and Park in the Roebling entertainment area in Covington.
