Midpoint Mania! Midpoint Music Festival 2009

It's that time of year again. Cincinnati is being overrun by more music than you can shake a hipster at. That's right, it's Midpoint weekend, when some of Cincinnati's brightest bands and coolest bars are in the spotlight.

Midpoint is certainly one of the highlights of the year for the BuyCincy staff, and we hope that even on a rainy weekend, a slew of BuyCincy readers will be checking out the city's most exciting music event. Here's some of the local goodness we are excited about this year.
  • The Grammer's main stage: This year's main stage is at one of our favorite watering holes, Grammer's in OTR. The highlight? Cincinnati's own Heartless Bastards coming back from their current home in Austin to headline the show (not to brag, but, yeah, we called it). This is sure to put a crazy amount of people on the corner of Walnut and Liberty.
  • All of our favorite local bands in one place. Midpoint veterans and local folkstars Jake Speed and the Freddies hit Washington Platform, the Koala Fires burn up Courtyard Cafe opposite the Bastards, and The Pomegranates close down Know Theater Friday night. Saturday, its You, You're Awesome at the CAC, and BuyCincy friends The Minor Leagues at the Subway.
  • Late night food after a night of great music. Just in the last year, Lucy Blue's Pizza and Gilpin's have opened on 7th, joining Backstage Deli on Vine and Shanghai Mama's on 6th as late night options. For food and drinks options both before and after the shows, be sure to check out the Midpoint Visitor's Guide we put together for last year's event.
Have an awesome band you recommend, or see a great concert? Be sure to leave us a note in the comments. Happy Midpoint everyone!
