St. Theresa’s Textile Trove is Closing

October 30, 2009 in Uncategorized

A Cincinnati icon in the textile and bead community will be closing its doors in three months.  St. Theresa’s Textile Trove in College Hill, (formally of Main St.) will pack up shop for good after the New Year.
For those of you who have shopped at St. Theresa’s you know that this is a great loss.  Customers from as far away as Florida have made pilgrimages to this truly unique Cincy Shop.
For more details on the closing visit: http://www.sttheresatextile.com/storeclosing.htm
We wish the owners and staff of St. Theresa’s all the best on their future endeavors and thank them for their years of service to Cincinnati.

BuyCincy Halloween Guide 2009

October 21, 2009 in Everything Else

Halloween is almost upon us, which means its time to cobble together a costume, get thyself to a party, and do the Monster Mash (after all, it is a graveyard smash). So, let us help you get in the All Hallows’ eve mood with our favorite finds of this October.

Vierow, Judith Ceremony.jpg
One of our favorite local craft stores, indigenous, has brought in a ton of great stuff for Halloween this year. In this, their 3rd annual Halloween Hullabaloo features Halloween and Day of the Dead themed art, sculpture, and crafts. Maybe its just my impending nuptials, but for some reason Wedding Print from Ohio artist Judith Vierow jumped out to me. More quirky than scary, this print is perfect for those that prefer understated Halloween decorations.

It’s always nice to reflect on the past. Here’s what we were talking about in previous Octobers on BuyCincy:
  • Andrew VanSickle brought his unique vision of Pop Art-inspired work to 4th St.’s AVS Art Gallery (RIP)
  • Switch Lighting and Design opened up in OTR’s Gateway Quarter, where it continues to brighten the area
  • Designer style came to Cincinnati runways (yes, you read that right) with Madras 641 coming on to the scene
  • We stopped in the Mustard Seed Boutique – this Ludlow Ave. stalwart is still one of our favorite places to nab stylish consignment and vintage gear
