Halloween is almost upon us, which means its time to cobble together a costume, get thyself to a party, and do the Monster Mash (after all, it is a graveyard smash). So, let us help you get in the All Hallows' eve mood with our favorite finds of this October.
One of our favorite local craft stores,
indigenous, has brought in a ton of great stuff for Halloween this year. In this, their 3rd annual Halloween Hullabaloo features Halloween and Day of the Dead themed art, sculpture, and crafts. Maybe its just my impending nuptials, but for some reason Wedding Print from Ohio artist Judith Vierow jumped out to me. More quirky than scary, this print is perfect for those that prefer understated Halloween decorations.

Park + Vine, as always, has some killer paper goods for the season. We're big fans of their Christmas cards, but these Halloween cards are a close second. This card is draws "inspiration from Hans Holbein woodcuts way back in 1538 to advertising art of the 1920s." As to be expected from a P+V item, the manufacturer, Saturn Press, typesets each card by hand on recycled paper.
If can't wait until next weekend to get your Halloween on, grab a costume and hit up City Cellars' Halloween tasting on the 27th. A selection of great wines will be available to taste (we always love their recommendations), and you might just go home with a door prize for best costume.
Finally, we can't leave out the granddaddy of Cincinnati's Halloween scene,
Cappel's. We stopped in last year for a last minute costume and loved every minute of the madness. Founded by Williams and Irvin Cappel, and still run by the family, the store has been making Halloween just a bit scarier for Cincinnatians old and young since 1945.
