Shoetopia closing by the end of October

It's a sad day for shoe lovers in Cincinnati.

Shoetopia, one of the few locally-owned shoe boutiques in Cincinnati, announced today that it will close up shop. The Hamilton Avenue store has been open for four years.
Owner Jessica Andrews-Griffin said she's looking to spend more time with her husband Brian, 5-year-old son Hank and their other Northside business, Bughouse Video. She said Bughouse Video will move to a larger location across the street in the near future.

In an email announcement this afternoon, Andrews-Griffin said it took "an extreme amount of thought" to reach the decision and thanked customers for their continued support of the store.

"We have the best customers (at Shoetopia) and we love Northside," she said in a later phone interview.

Andrews-Griffin said the store will host a "wine-ding down" party closer to the Nov. 4 anniversary of their opening. The party is for staff, customers and friends -- "for everybody who loves shoes," she said.

Though customers can shop their collection now at www.shoe-topia.com, the store will have clearance sales going on for in-store purchases. Be sure to stop by, pick up some great shoes and wish them well.
