The Clay Alliance of Greater Cincinnati
announces The Holiday Fair. The fair will be held at the Clifton Cultural Arts Center,
3711 Clifton Avenue, Cincinnati, Ohio, 45220 on Saturday, December 11, 2010 from 11am to
5 pm. This one day juried event showcases the diverse talents of our local
ceramics community. Admission is free, and there is plenty of free parking on the
street , behind the CCAC at Clifton Recreation Center lot or at the Fairview
Clifton School lot off McAlpin.
The show will offer a wide variety of items
all made from clay including jewelry, decorative items for the garden, functional
table ware, serving pieces, ornaments and seasonal items, nature inspired sculpture
and unique, one-of-a-kind pieces to enjoy and display in your home. There are pieces
available for every budget and credit cards are accepted.
The Clifton Cultural Arts Center is housed
in the historic Clifton Elementary School which was built in 1906. With its soaring
ceilings and inviting presence, it’s the perfect venue for our eclectic group of
ceramic artists to showcase their work. The event will be held in the main lobby and
the large meeting room next door.
The Clay Alliance, founded in 1999, is an
organization committed to sharing a passion for clay. Our goal is to raise the
profile of clay artists in Greater Cincinnati and demonstrate our unique and beautiful craft.
We’ve grown from a handful of artists to over 161 members, with an active calendar
to raise awareness, raise money for charity, and make education in clay art
accessible to all.
Our group is diverse, from beginner to
university educated, and everything in between. We represent a wide range of work from
functional to sculptural, various firing ranges, electric, gas, wood, pit and Raku in
addition to all types of aesthetic interests, from traditional to contemporary.
Annually, the CA hosts Empty Bowls, a
charity fundraiser, Spring Pottery Fair, and various professional workshops. We also
provide exhibition opportunities through juried and invitational shows many
of which are held in regional locations. Teachers, professional artists, students,
amateur potters, gallery owners, and clay suppliers are members. If you share our

Before you hit the bars, parties, and fancy dinners that accompany New Year’s Eve in the US, kick off your holiday at the stroke of midnight in Germany. Starting at 5pm, Mecklenburg Gardens will celebrate Midnight in Munich, a celebration of Cincinnati’s German heritage and a good excuse to start New Year’s right with delicious grub and huge German beers.
