On January 25th, MiCA's original O'Bryonville store will bid adieu and join up with its sister store, MiCA 12/v in Over-the-Rhine. The new combined store will feature lines that were previously exclusive to each MiCA location. While both stores saw an increase in holiday shopping in 2009, owners Mike and Carolyn Deininger decided to combine their resources into one store in order to work on product development, their own artwork, and to give the full attention of both owners to customers at one location.
Mike Deininger said the success of MiCA 12/v and the growing Gateway Quarter area were a large factor in consolidating both stores to the Over-the-Rhine location. "While we have
loved being a part of the O'Bryonville Business District, the early success
and customer loyalty to our second store in OTR's Gateway Quarter has
opened our eyes to the great potential of this historic neighborhood at
Cincinnati's core."
According to co-owner Carolyn Deininger, the extensive customer demand to support Over-the-Rhine's development has been a welcome surprise. "We've had customers
at our O'Bryonville store ask if we can transfer items to the OTR store
because they prefer to buy things there to support that store in that
neighborhood. Our customers care where their money goes, they care
about what those dollars support, and they want to support the positive
changes in Over the Rhine. We love that."
We wish the new combined location much success in 2010 and look forward to seeing all of the store's best lines in one place.
