ceramic artists to showcase their work. The event will be held in the main lobby and
the large meeting room next door.

The Clay Alliance, founded in 1999, is an
organization committed to sharing a passion for clay. Our goal is to raise the
profile of clay artists in Greater Cincinnati and demonstrate our unique and beautiful craft.
We’ve grown from a handful of artists to over 161 members, with an active calendar
to raise awareness, raise money for charity, and make education in clay art
accessible to all.

Our group is diverse, from beginner to
university educated, and everything in between. We represent a wide range of work from
functional to sculptural, various firing ranges, electric, gas, wood, pit and Raku in
addition to all types of aesthetic interests, from traditional to contemporary.

Annually, the CA hosts Empty Bowls, a
charity fundraiser, Spring Pottery Fair, and various professional workshops. We also
provide exhibition opportunities through juried and invitational shows many
of which are held in regional locations. Teachers, professional artists, students,
amateur potters, gallery owners, and clay suppliers are members. If you share our
passion, you belong with us. Join us today.

Our
regular meetings are quarterly. To get more information visit www.Clayalliance.org

Yelp’s Totally Bazaar Party!

November 15, 2010 in Events, Sale, Stores

Guest post from Alex Shebar of Yelp.

The
crowds! The unfriendly staff! People
roundhouse-kicking each other over that one gift they can’t live
without! Aren’t
you done with the malls and the box-chain stores this holiday season?

If you answered yes, and are still nursing
your roundhouse-kick wounds, then here’s an event for you.

I’m Alex Shebar, OtR resident and the new
Community Manager for Yelp.com. For those unsure of what a “Yelp” is, it’s a website that connects you with local
reviews
of businesses from real people. You’re going to have to trust me on this
one,
it’s pretty great.

This year, I’m trying to encourage
Cincinnatians to shop locally. I want people to cross big-budget chain stores off their
lists and visit the great shops right around the corner … and I’m
kicking off
this initiative with a giant party!

I’m
calling it: “Yelp’s Totally Bazaar.” If someone pledges to try to
buy local gifts for the holidays, they’ll
get an invite to the party with free food and alcohol and 25 to 30
beloved stores
selling local gifts!

Win a Local Business Gift Basket This Saturday at Cincinnati Unchained!

November 15, 2010 in Events

With Cincinnati Unchained fast approaching (THIS Saturday!), it’s time to start planning your local shopping gameplan. We’ve heard in past years about shoppers visiting over a dozen participating stores in one day, and we wanted to give back to the shop local pioneers who make Unchained so successful.

So, this year, we’ve banded together with select participating businesses to give away several gift baskets filled with gift cards and goodies from each neighborhood. To enter, all you have to do is download and print the Cincinnati Unchained Shopper’s Passport (PDF) and visit 8 participating locally owned businesses this Saturday, November 20th. Each store you visit will provide a unique stamp for your passport – when your passport is filled, just drop it off at any participating Unchained business and you are entered to win!

Winners will be announced and notified via email Thanksgiving week. So, get out there, see what Cincinnati’s local shops have to offer, and possibly come away with a boatload of goodies. See you on Saturday!

Holiday Open House at College Hill Coffee Co.

November 8, 2010 in Uncategorized

College Hill Coffee Co. celebrates the start of the season with its fourth annual Holiday Open House, Saturday, November 13th.  8:30 a.m. until 10:00 p.m.

Again this year, College Hill
Coffee Co. (CHCC) continues what Owner Tina Stoeberl has turned into a College
Hill tradition – the CHCC Holiday Open House. The all-day event features
special sales on brand new holiday merchandise, yummy gourmet food taste
samplings, door prizes, gifts with purchase, music – and lots of fun!

This year, there are even
more unique gifts, homegoods, gourmet treats and decorative items than ever
before, including brand new items and
some favorites CHCC demand each holiday
season.

As always, there’s
live music on Saturday night at CHCC – and to top off this year’s Holiday Open
House, the Davis & Leigh duo does the honors.

Davis
& Leigh is the duo of Mark Davis (vocals and guitar) and Steve Leigh
(vocals, bass, and guitar). They perform an entertaining, acoustic mix of songs
both old and newer, as well as a few original tunes. Mark has been gigging in
various incarnations for the past twenty years with
such groups as The
Pruett-Davis Group, The Somebody Club and currently with 99iQ, a band that both
Mark and Steve play with. Steve has been playing in the Cincinnati area since
the ’70s in such bands as Bluestone Ivory and Stage Door Johnny.
