BuyCincy Guide to the 2008 Cincinnati Reds Opening Day Game

Of course all of the hoopla around Opening Day would be nothing without the game.  So unless you are lucky enough to have tickets to the game, we will provide you will some of the best places in the city to watch the game.

1. Fountain Square

Sure to be packed with Reds Fans, a jumbo screen and lots of entertainment, Fountain Square is a great place to watch the game.  Give Back Cincinnati is putting on an Opening Day event, with food, drinks, live music, and of course the Game on the Jumbotron. The schedule for events is:

  • 2:00- 6:00 Food, drink and the game
  • 6:00 The Flight Station
  • 7:00 Ellison
  • 8:00 Heroes and Madmen
  • 9:00 TBA

2. Gabby's Cafe

Owner Dino DiStasi is a huge Reds fan.  Gabby's is not a sports bar, but it is a great restaraunt with lots of great flat screen TVs, and really good food.  Located in Wyoming on Wyoming Ave, it is the perfect spot for people in the north/central region to watch the game.  Visit the www.gabbyswyoming.com for directions and a menu.

3. Tickets

A good locally owned sports bar in Covington with lots of TVs and a happy hour from 2pm to 7pm.  Visit www.ticketssportscafe.com

4. Champions Grille

Champions on the westside has over 40 TVs and they also have a happy hour from 1pm to 7pm.  Visit www.championsgrille.com

5. The Holy Grail

With two locations, one in Clifton and one on the westside, the Holy Grail is a great place to watch a game.  Visit www.holygrailclifton.com

6. Hyde Park Tavern

Like Gabby's, not a sports bar, but a great restaraunt with a lot of great TVs (and awesome burgers).
Located on Erie Avenue in Hyde Park.

Staying Home to watch the game?

If your idea of a true Opening Day is dusting off the grill and turning up the radio then we have some suggestion for your food preparation.

1. Findlay Market

There is no better place to get your brats and metts than Findlay.  Stop by after the parade and stock up on all the meats and fixings you need for your first official grill out of the season.

2. North College Hill Bakery

You have the brats, you have the metts, you have the hot dogs, but where do you get your buns (no snickering kids).  No one in the city makes better buns than the NCH bakery.

3. Christian Moerlein
