Maki Express: Sushi Takeout In Clifton Heights
For many of us, sushi is a production, a night out with no sneakers allowed. But nestled in Clifton Heights, Maki Express is giving its patrons a simple and pleasurable experience that's sure leave some extra cash in your pocket (for another visit maybe?).
Ranging from $2.50 to $11.95, Maki features only three tables and
counter. "I chose the University area for that type of customer," Chef
and co-owner Likit Thumrongthaisakul chimed from behind the counter.
Likit and his wife Unchasa operate the Express on their own, with her working the
kitchen while he prepares the sushi. While we spoke, students and
professors shuffled through; their orders were quickly prepared by the
couple, and they left with sushi abundance in their arms.
This is the Thumrongthaisakul's first restaurant, but they've already
developed a crew of regulars. "We have people that call, order one item
off the menu, and say, 'Just make me something good,' and I make them
one of my specialties or try something new." Likit paused before
adding, "They really like it that way." For those of you looking for a
similar adventure, the menu features 21 "Chef Special Rolls," almost
all of which are Likit's own creation. The rest of the menu features an
assortment of very fresh dishes that we're sure you'll enjoy.
Don't let the "Express" in the title confuse you, Maki strives to combine its speed and affordability with a warm and welcoming atmosphere. We at BuyCincy are glad to see this "ma and pop" store go into its third year of service. Stop by for a quick lunch or dinner and we're sure you'll agree.

This is probably one of my favorite places to grab a quick bite to eat in the area. Its totally unassuming, but the food is excellent and the price, for sushi, is spot on.
This is one of our favorite places in town. Likit is awesome and we always find something new! Love the Farm Raised Salmon roll!
This place is really good and totally unassuming as you mentioned.
