- First let me say hello to all the BuyCincy.com readers - I'm the Food Hussy and am very excited to be contributing here on this fabulous site promoting locally owned and operated businesses.
Why did we choose Gordo's? Well - I just purchased a load of gift certificates at 80% off from Restaurant.com (offer is still valid thru Nov. 24 - use the code: SURPRISE) and one of them was for Gordo's. $25 gift certificate (I paid $2) with the stipulation of buying $35 in food. So $35 worth of food for $12! Great deal and we were hungry.
Appetizers - wide variety from culinary (crab cakes & bruschetta) to bar food (cheese fries & hot wings). We went for the mozzerella sticks and hot wings. The wings were the star here - even with the mild sauce - very tasty!
Soups/Salads - one homemade soup each day made by the chef & a few salad options. We skipped this in favor of what was yet to come!
Burgers/Sandwiches - here we go! I tried the Gordo burger (poblanos, mushrooms, onions, bacon and boursin cheese) while my friend is more of a plain burger girl. They have other burger options (Jean Robert even) as well as delicious sandwiches (blt with melted colby - next time!). The burgers are more like a meatball in a bun - they're very tasty and the meat has a lot of seasoning inside - which I like. The buns...leave a little to be desired. Entrees - 4 choices (ribeye, chicken, salmon, shrimp pasta) - all sounded great and are very reasonably priced.
Sides - They also have sides you can get with your entree or purchase separately. I decided to try the Parmesan Potato Gratin - EXCELLENT!
Dessert - they have a Chocolate Macadamia Tart or Creme Brulee and I'm a mad sucker for a creme brulee. It was actually the first thing I decided on and I did enjoy. The prices at Gordo's are very reasonable - we had enough food for 4 people and our bill with 2 soda's was $38! Post-Restaurant.com - a measly $13!!!! Burgers are in the $7 range and entrees between $12.50-$14.50 (for a ribeye with 2 sides!).
The food is good and it's definitely on the "go back" list. Consistency is my concern, on one visit my burger was dry but this time it was fabulous. This time my creme brulee was perfect while my friend's was cooked too long and had a totally different texture.
Gordo's is a welcome addition to Norwood and it's definitely getting a reputation! When we walked in there were only 2 tables available - by the time we left - there were at least 15 people waiting!
(They don't yet have a website but if you go to Restaurant.com - you can see their menu)

Thanks for the tip on restaurant.com's promotion. I purchased $210 worth of gift certificates for less than $17 - including Seny, Mixx Ultra Lounge, Beluga, and Nuvo. I can't wait to use them.
Thanks so much for the tip - got some of my Xmas gifts taken care of, thanks to the Food Hussy! Gordo's used to be "The Tropical" a vertiable hole in the wall/dump of a bar. I'm so glad to see they're revitalized it! Norwood is a part of town that needs more places like this.
I went here the other week and had no idea the place existed. I thought my friend was bringing me to some hole-in-the-wall, but little did I know.
I loved the food and the atmosphere was comfortable. I'll definitely be going back and have recommended Gordo's numerous times since then.
