Restaurants: July 2008 Archives

BuyCincy would like to welcome the newest member of our team, Libby Andress.  Libby was born and raised in Cincinnati, but now lives in New York.  However, she still loves the city and its unique small businesses.  Welcome Libby!

In the thick of summer I avoid the long lines at the more obvious and notorious ice cream establishments, in favor of some unique and treasured favorites. Aglamesis Brothers ice cream in Oakley and Montgomery, call it by just plain Aglamesis, has been enticing people well beyond my short life. The establishment just reached it's hundredth year, and has much of its original decor restored or preserved. I CRAVE the supremely dense chocolate shakes with homemade whipped cream and butter cookies, which I have been known to request in my father's infamous Aglamesis pick-ups.

So, maybe you know the College Hill Coffee Company and maybe you don't.  The shop has been the subject of several apperences in the nationally syndicated comic strip The Dinnette Set and was voted the best coffee shop in the city of Cincinnati by the readers of CityBeat.  However, there is more to this coffee shop than just a great cup of coffee.

IMG_8440_021207.jpgSomeday if you find yourself hungry in Mason don't give in to the familiar and stop at one of the many chain restaurants; take a chance on The Polo Grille.  The spacious dining area is accented by a large, elegant bar that displays a wide variety of liquor, wine and beer.  Not a drinker?  Don't worry, the food is superb.
