MidPoint Music Festival 2008 @ BuyCincy
Gearing Up For MPMF With Mark Messerly
BuyCincy is sending its own team of "esteemed reporters" to this year's festival, and in this update they will be joined by Mark Messerly of Wussy. We found out that Mark is quite the MPMF veteran, and he later discussed the upcoming release of Wussy's third album in this, our final MPMF '08 update.

Update 09/11/08
MPMF Streetcar!
Along with the excitement of multiple venues across Cincinnati's downtown, OTR, and the Levee comes the inevitable question: "how am I going to see all of it?" MPMF 2008 has an answer for you: a streetcar system. Three-day wristband holders will have access to a Scion driven "streetcar" stopping throughout the night at all the venues, running north on Main Street, west on 12th Street, back south on Walnut Street, and east on 5th.
Midpoint Music Festival has made this route deliberately similar to the proposed streetcar system in downtown. This has even garnered attention to fellow festival patron Mark Mallory, who had this to say: "Every year MidPoint brings a lot of energy, excitement, and great music to Downtown Cincinnati and the Scions are an excellent addition to MidPoint's great lineup." This new move to encourage movement across venues is unprecedented, and one of the most exciting developments in what is sure to be one of the best MPMF's yet. The transit is only available to three-day wristband holders, so perhaps a quick visit to MPMF's site to purchase the $29 weekend wristbands is in order for you.
Update 08/03/08
Midpoint 3-Day Passes Available
And if you're still not sure you deserve this 29-dollar musical splurge, check out the now available event schedule. MPMF is claiming these wristbands have "magical powers;" after spending some time with this year's schedule, we concur.

The tally of bands has now grown to over 180 local and national acts. Some highlights of these include the seminal Robert Pollard's newest project "Robert Pollard and the Boston Spaceship" (who make their premier at the festival), and indie rockers, "Mates of State." New and exciting venues include the Aronoff Center and the Dewey's Pizza Stage at Southgate House. Finally, wristband holders will be offered admission to a secret and exclusive show.
Wristbands available at MPMF 2008 website.

BuyCincy MPMF 2008 Coverage
And BuyCincy announces its first year of special coverage for the MPMF! We've set up a separate page where you can expect frequent updates, photos, and coverage of the festival that gives homage to the queen city's proud musical past.
This year marks MidPoint Music Festival's seventh anniversary, and there are already over 80 bands signed up, with the promise of more to come. To match the army of musicians, established bars and the most unlikely of venues will become concert halls for one weekend out of the year. We at BuyCincy invite you to head to any number of bars in Cincinnati this September 25th-27th to check out MPMF for yourself (co-headed by BuyCincy friend Bill Donabedian).
This year's band list is filled with the kind of variety MPMF patrons have come to expect. Some familiar faces (Jake Speed and Freddies), and bands of more recent acclaim (The Tillers, The Seedy Seeds) fill the bill.

The venues, schedule, and additional bands for the shows are still to be released from MPMF, so make sure you check back on this page for info. Come September 25th, you can expect to see a few BuyCincy faces at the MidPoint venues as well. We're not saying you should buy them a beer, but Moerlein's my brand, for reference's sake.
