Yelp’s Totally Bazaar Party!

November 15, 2010 in Events, Sale, Stores

Guest post from Alex Shebar of Yelp.

The
crowds! The unfriendly staff! People
roundhouse-kicking each other over that one gift they can’t live
without! Aren’t
you done with the malls and the box-chain stores this holiday season?

If you answered yes, and are still nursing
your roundhouse-kick wounds, then here’s an event for you.

I’m Alex Shebar, OtR resident and the new
Community Manager for Yelp.com. For those unsure of what a “Yelp” is, it’s a website that connects you with local
reviews
of businesses from real people. You’re going to have to trust me on this
one,
it’s pretty great.

This year, I’m trying to encourage
Cincinnatians to shop locally. I want people to cross big-budget chain stores off their
lists and visit the great shops right around the corner … and I’m
kicking off
this initiative with a giant party!

I’m
calling it: “Yelp’s Totally Bazaar.” If someone pledges to try to
buy local gifts for the holidays, they’ll
get an invite to the party with free food and alcohol and 25 to 30
beloved stores
selling local gifts!

Craving something sweet?  Put that Snickers bar down and drive over to Haute Chocolate Confectionary for an original creation, handmade right inside the shop!  Established in 1979 by owner Lisa Holmes, the little shop is a Cincinnati staple.  Some of the local favorites are white chocolate buckeyes and Lisa’s brownies (which can be shipped to long-distance friends).

Perfect For: Chocolate lovers!
